Well today was my last time doing the Plyometrics DVD during this round of P90X. This is definately the best of the workouts in my opinion. Why? Well first of all.. No Dreya Weber for Tony to be drooling over the entire time. Second, what could be better than doing Jump Training with Erik “Peg-Leg” Stolhanske. “That is a prosthetic leg, so I want no excuses from you people” And is that a band-aid I see on that leg? What the fuck for? To keep the oil from leaking out? Third reason… Dom the Leapfrog/Locust. Whatever Tony calls him, this dude is crankin out the Plyo. He leaps and jumps around to the point where he almost looks more like a dumbass Mexican Jumping-Bean than a training example. Last but not least… Pam the Blam. She simply smiles, keeps her pie hole shut, and basically kicks Plyo’s ass for 60 minutes. Got to love the strong silent type.
Over the course of 10 Plyometrics sessions during these past 79 days, I have jumped and hopped and sweated to each of the following excercises: Oh yeah, you repeat these, so you do each one twice!!!
Jump Squats for 30 seconds.
Run Stance Squats for 30 seconds.
Airborne Heismans for 30 seconds.
Swing Kicks for 60 seconds.
Squat Reach Jumps for 30 seconds.
Run Stance Squat Switch Pick Ups.
Double Airborne Heismans for 30 seconds.
Circle Run for 60 seconds.
Jump Knee Tucks for 30 seconds.
Mary Katherine Lunges for 30 seconds.
Leapfrog Squats for 30 seconds.
Twist Combos for 60 seconds.
Rock Star Hops for 30 seconds.
Gap Jumps for 30 seconds.
Squat Jacks for 30 seconds.
Military Marches for 60 seconds.
Run Squat 180 Jump Switches for 30 seconds.
Lateral Leapfrog Squats.
Monster Truck Tire Jumps fro 30 seconds.
Hot Foot Jumps for 60 seconds.
Pitch & Catch for 60 seconds.
Jump Shots for 60 seconds.
Football Hero for 60 seconds.
So after 8 minutes of warming up, 45 minutes of that stuff, you get 6 minutes to cool down. The first time I tried it, I made the mistake of wearing sweat pants and nearly achieved spontaneous combustion. I remember huffing and puffing and thinking this was so hard to complete. After 10 sessions, I can rip right through this thing (even with a swollen knee that hurts like a bastard each time I jump). That says alot for the P90X program, what once was very hard to do, is now getting to be a little to easy.

Another rousing round of Plyometrics with all of my friends. Pam the Blam-a-lam-a-ding-dong, Eric the peg-leg plyo machine, Adam the Leapfrog, and Tony the Douchebag. I forgot my water, so I attempted to complete the entire DVD without any water breaks and by just running in place or doing jumping jacks during the water break time. I made it through, but was I ever tired of swallowing my own spit to get a little hydration. Note to self…. remember water bottle next time. The lack of breaks make the workout that much more difficult, but I am now what Tony calls “Plyometrics ready” no lazy ass Cardio X option for me.
I am hoping that Plyometrics is preparing me properly for the Insanity DVD’s that I am planning on starting once I finish the P90X. Those things look crazy hard, and me being an old man and all, I might just die on the basement floor and no one would ever find me. Maybe I should invest in a heart rate monitor before trying those workouts.
Anyways, 18 more days to go… less than 3 weeks. I am still keeping up with the diet, I am actually staying at the 40/40/20 percentages right now. I plan on moving to 30protein, 50carbs, 20fat next week and then to the recommended 60Carbs, 20Protein, 20Fat the last week. Tomorrow is a weigh-in day. I was 3.7 lbs away from my target weight last week. I doubt I have shed that much in a week, but I hope to be closer to the goal.
Looks like another snowstorm has decended upon us. More snow shoveling workouts ahead.

Today marked the 8th time that I have completed the Plyometrics DVD from start to finish (I also did it a couple of times prior to my official start date). What used to just completely wipe me out, I can now buzz through without even taking the breaks. Basically I sip some water and keep moving with jump ropes or jumping jacks. I do not have a heart rate monitor so I don’ t know exactly if I am staying in the suggested zone the entire time. Amazing what 10 weeks of eating better and sticking with the program will do. According to my schedule, I will be doing Plyometrics two more times before the end of my 90 day journey. This kind of makes me sad, cause it is one of my favorite workouts.
On to Back and Biceps today, 25 days to go…..

Oh man, plyo with a hangover sucks hairy monkey nuts. I knew getting up early the day before was gonna cost me, and it did. I managed to hang out til 4:30am or so but finally had to call it quits. Not sure how many beers and cocktails I had, but my body said too many. After I got up that morning (it was still before 11am so technically you could call it morning) it was time for Plyo.
Let me tell ya, Plyo normally makes me sweat, but just not 30 seconds into it. Apparently Bud Select and Vodka tonics will make your sweat glands more active, as I was sweating buckets just minutes into the workout. I huffed and puffed my way through the entire thing. It seemed to cure my hangover, as once I was finished my head no longer hurt. I must have sweated out a gallon of pure grain alcohol, kind of like a human distillation machine. My legs were killing me cause we walked all day the previous day, and I stood around a craps table most of the night. Add a little Plyo on top of that and BLAM, your legs feel like shit.
Another normal day in Vegas, check out some casinos during the day. (Love the Red Rock and M places) Then head down to the seedier downtown area for the real action at night. I just love downtown. Reminds me more of the old Las Vegas where the tables are crowded, the smoke is thick, and the place is so fucking noisy you can’t hear yourself think. The NFL playoffs were on and we watched parts of the early game while at the nicer casinos in their clean and sterile Sports Books. Nothing against them, there are people there cheering and stuff, but its not like the downtown area. We went down there for the second game and everywhere in the casinos, the people were screaming for the games as they played various games. The bars were packed and people were hooting and hollering having a good time.
Another great thing about downtown… you can walk from joint to joint if you don’t like the action at one place. Also, they have places that offer 20x odds on craps and there are more tables open with lower stakes. (brings out the trailer trash) Eventually we make our way back to the Golden Gate, ahh yes. Multiple scantily clad girls dancing to ultra loud music right in the middle of the casino pit. The way all of Vegas should be. Once they are done dancing, they take a turn dealing blackjack. Love it. Real working class women.
Eventually everyone meets back up at the Main Street Station and stumbles into the brew pub there. (I was stuck as des. driver that night) A few are having a hard time walking straight and speaking coherently. Nothing like pub food at 1:30am, yum. Then it is back out into the streets for more gambling and dancing girls. A couple hours later we meet back up at the Main Street. Into the car and back to home base (in this case The Orleans) A few more hours at the tables there and time to call it a night. Is that the sun coming up over there? I ask as I pull the drapes closed to get some sleep. Just another day on Vegas time.

Another fun filled session of jumping over rivers, leapfrogging left and right, groucho walking and rocking out like a star. Yes it is the popular and exciting Plyometrics. Not much new here, I can pretty much plow through this workout in a businesslike fashion at this point. It shows just how far I have come in the 2 months since I first started with a couple of trial runs. Just getting to the halfway point during the trial run was tough work, but now I think to myself, “I wonder if there is a PlyoX plus DVD?”

The last time that I did PlyoX, I was talking shit about how it was getting easier and how I was screaming at the TV saying “Is that all you got!”. Well last night I figured I would be ready for another round of Plyo and I would just kill it. Tony the Teabagger and P90X responded with a big giant “Bacdafugup” rookie. Right from the start my hips and calfs were sore and I did not have the usual energy. But for some reason Tony and crew just seemed to be able to do everything just as easily as they had the previous 5 times. My legs wobbled and the sweat poured out, and my calfs called me everything but a white man. My mind started to cloud over, and then finally it dawned on me…. This is a recording of the same damn session over and over. WHAT THE HELL!!! No wonder Tony always seems to have those same witty lines on the tip of his tongue, and all of the test subjects wear the same workout clothes each time. My mind could not grasp the fact that Tony did not actually think of, and repeat the same “Thats one short Uncle” knee slapper of a line each week. Water… Water.. I need water.
Once the sports bonus section was done and I was able to cool down and get a drink, I snapped out of it. My mind cleared and a remembered that it was all just a DVD, not a live session with Tony and friends. I looked around and realized I was back in my basement, not in the studio with my good buddy Tony, Peg Leg Bob, Adam the Frog-boy, and Pam “I call her the Blam”. Was it all just a dream??? Did I lose my memory of what happened? How did I lose this tooth? Why is there a tiger in my bathroom? Whose baby is this?

I am getting so much better at this plyometrics shit it is amazing. I used to be laying on the floor in a pool of sweat and puke, and now I am yelling at the TV “Is that all you got BITCH!!!” In a few more weeks I will be keeping up with Frog boy the leaping freak (whatever his name is).
With Day 30 done it was time for measurements:
Day 1 Day 30
Weight 185 178
Waist 36″ 35″
Fat % 21.6% 19.75%
I did not measure arms, legs, etc… I took some pictures and need to get them cropped and sized next to the Day 1 pictures before posting. I lost a total of 7 pounds which is pretty good I guess, but I was thinking that I may have lost more than that.
