Day 39 – Eccentric Lower: Added to the weights on each move.
Day 40 – Incinerator: Increased weights to 20lb dumbells from 15’s and to 8lb dumbells from 5lb
Day 41 – MMX: This thing is great, but all the sprawling hurts the lower back still. I really need to get this issue cleared up as it keeps me from getting everything out of the workouts.
Day 42 – Dynamix: What is not to like. Good stretches and work up an easy sweat. (I did this on the same day as MMX so I could take the real day 42 off)
I have now competed the first 6 weeks of the program. Weigh-in will not be for another 2 days, but I am guessing that I am down about 9 to 10 pounds. Still need to trim more of the fat. 3 days away from the halfway point. I am not feeling the desire to quit the program like I had with the original P90x, and I think that has to do with the shorter workouts.
I will give full update of stats on Day 45 (halfway).

Doubled up to finish off Week 3 and to get back on target with the workouts after the Easter weekend. It was fitting to do The Warrior with “Boston Strong” Susan and her clipped east coast accent spouting off every so often during the workout. Tony also chirps in a few times with some bullshit about being from Rhode Island or some other insignificant state over there on the east coast. Heading down to the beach with some “beers” of course non-alcoholic “beers” he says. Yeah, sounds like fun. Right up there with poking an eye out with a sharp stick.
The third time through this workout was no easier than the first time. There is just a lot of good stuff packed into the 30 minutes, you only get a few easy ones tossed in get your breath back. Breaks are short (no more than 30 seconds) and if you follow the most extreme version of each move, you are gonna be totally gassed at the end.
I am about ready for a “Recovery week” as the jumping and twisting has my left knee a little swollen and sore. Climbing the steps every morning at work has gotten to be a nice painful wakeup with every other step up.

With the Good Friday and Easter holiday on the way this coming weekend, I have decided to “double up” on the workouts for a few days to get ahead of the curve. Basically Friday and Saturday and Sunday will become “off” days as I travel to celebrate the holiday with family. Therefore I will do two workouts per day so that I get them all in prior to the weekend.
So on Monday (Day 14) I was supposed to do just Dynamix, but instead did both Day 14 and Day 15’s workouts. I did Day 15’s Total Synergistics in the afternoon and was able to plow through the entire thing nearly as good as the kids. Later in the evening (about 9:00pm) I pulled out the Dynamix and did that routine. Love it. Great stretching routine with just enough ab and core work to get you sweating.

It is the end of week 1 and it is time for Dynamix. This is a moderate to easy stretching and abs workout. It actually is optional, but after doing the routine for a second time now I really enjoyed it. The workout basically involves a series of right and left side dynamic stretches that will help you stay limber and ready for the next week of workouts. Another nice thing about this workout is the 3 new faces in the crowd behind old Tony. Shannon who is a “hot” comedian according to Tony, Ed the Asian who was part of the test group, and Malichi Davis who was an Olympic athlete back in the day.
All of the stretches are done while moving, so there are no simple static stretches. After about 10 minutes you will start to work up a light sweat, which was letting me know that this was getting something accomplished. The last 6 or 7 minutes of the routine is focused on abs, and gets you huffing and puffing a little bit. Some Fifer Scissors, Side Bananas, Supermans, and Big Bicycles.
Missed opportunity of the workout? When Tony asks hot Susan what the workout does, and she replies “Umm Elongate?” Now if Tony had quickly replied “Especially when I look at you” that would have been the perfect response. Instead he fumbles for words and turns a little red and chuckles. When a comedian tees it up for you, dammit Tony you have to hit it!
Anyways, Susan mentions something about a Banana Hammock and Tony again misses the chance to zing her. Instead he says something about never mentioning the Banana Hammock on the show again.

1 Week in the books. 11more to go!!!
Back at it tomorrow with Total Syn.

Today was the last of the “75% effort” workouts: Dynamix It is not really a workout as much as it is a recovery stretch and minor abs routine. Just the thing that I needed after 6 days of half-assing it through the first week of workouts in P90X3. Tomorrow will be the official Day 1. (April fools day) I intend to post daily (or as close to daily as possible) with reviews and breakdowns of each of the workouts, Tonyisms, Diet results and even Fitbit step and stair counts. Measurements and photos of the great white whale may even be posted, so make sure you wear shades.

I am closing in on the April 1st official start date. This past weekend I tested out CVX and The Warrior. Only doing 75% of each of the moves and it was still a pretty good workout each day.
CVX: Tony says it is the best of both worlds, cardio and weights. To me it was simply a slower version of Insanity with a weight thrown in to make it hard. The moves had slightly different names than what is in Insanity, but most were just some slight variation of an Insanity move with a weight tossed in for good measure. I actually liked this workout alot as I really enjoyed the first 30 days of Insanity. The problem with Insanity is that my late-40’s joints don’t take to the 1 hour of pure jumping around that comes with days 31 thru 60.
The Warrior: No matter how hard I tried, I could not get Patty Smyth’s song out of my head as I did this workout. Again, 75% was plenty of work as there were a few items that I could not even keep good form on for 75% of the time. No weights, bands, mats, whatever needed for this baby. Again, this one was pretty fun to do, and next week when I am attempting to do 100% of the effort there is no way I am going to be able to hang with Tony and the kids.
I will be doing the Dynamix, workout this evening (this one is supposedly optional) but only at about 50% effort as I will be starting at FULL EFFORT on Tuesday April, 1st for my 90 days of P90X3. Measurements, weigh-in and pictures will be completed. Diet will start as well. I will try to keep the blog up to date with the day by day results and reviews of the workouts and of course the diet and any additional Tony speak that I find amusing.
